The Pin Up 8 EVO is made for HAGAN in partnership with ATK in Italy. HAGAN partnered with ATK, well respected for quality, craftsmanship and functionality, to bring what we feel are their best products to North America. The Pin Up 8 EVO is identical to the ATK RT8 EVO.
While the push pin system is effective and quite easy to operate (and still available with the lower cost Pure 8), the automatic brakes are easier. There is another advantage of the new brakes - and it is a big and important one. You can't forget to release the brakes on the descent.
Switching into descent mode automatically puts the brakes into "ready" mode. If you descend on the push pin version but forget to first push the pin to release the brakes ($#it happens) you will have carried up brakes that do absolutely nothing in case of a crash. With the Pin Up 8 EVO, the brakes are always ready to deploy in descent mode, no matter how distracted or forgetful you are.
The 280 gram Pin Up 8 EVO – including length adjustment, brakes and crampon mounts – is very light, less than half the weight of alternatives. It outperforms standard U-Spring tech bindings for a better skiing, more efficient, and hassle-free backcountry experience. Unlike other tech bindings, the brakes are ingeniously held in retracted position by a separate mechanism, not by the heel tower itself. So the heel tower is light, not having to be bulked up to hold down the brakes. The patented CAM heel system adjusts to impact forces, providing far better control, skiing precision and release than simple U Forks. The elastic response system in the heel ensures perfect flex of the ski during compression and excellent skiing performance. The heel piece can be turned in any direction. Step in is very easy.
The Pin Up 8 has three climbing positions and an integrated 20mm adjustment plate (up to 2 full sizes)
The Pin Up 8 Evo perfectly embodies Hagan's prime values: durability, performance, ease of use and value. The Pure binding combined with our Pure and Core series skis provides an outstanding touring package with extreme value.
TOE PIECES: The Core 12 EVO toe piece has a wider mounting plate, snow-block anti-icing system and uphill retention adjustment.

REVOLUTIONARY EVO SKI-BRAKE: Incredibly light and easy to operate. Twist the heel to climbing and the brakes retract just by stepping in! See the short videos for brake operation.
ELASTIC RESPONSE SYSTEM: An elastic sliding system in the heel allows unrestrained flex of the ski during compression and excellent skiing performance.
SKI BRAKE ELASTIC SLIDE: Integrated in the ski-brake pad to keep the lateral release value of the binding fixed.
SKI BRAKE: Included, with sizes 75, 86, 91, 97, 102 and 108 mm to provide the perfect fit with any ski model.
HEEL FLAP WITH RISER: Intuitive heel flap system provides 3 different walking modes: FLAT MODE, + 36 mm and +50 mm.
CAM HEEL RELEASE SYSTEM ® (Adjustable Release 3-8): A cam system which drives the Vertical release (My) of the binding in case of a fall. The cam system is extremely precise and reliable, and at the same time very light and small.
ROTATIONAL SYSTEM (Adjustable Release 3-8): This patented system provides the side release (Mz) adjustment.
20 mm ADJUSTMENT PLATE: Integrated in the heel part enables fast adjustment in case of boot substitution (up to 2 full sizes).
INTEGRATED CRAMPON HOOKS ®: The included and removable crampon hooks integrate into the base of the toe piece for extreme rigidity and lightness!!
